Allison Samuels
Allison is an accomplished professor at Baruch College (CUNY), where she has educated thousands of students in one of the most economically, socially, and ethnically diverse student bodies in the country. As a university leader, she has extensive experience developing curriculum and policy, and successfully working with teachers and students to advance academic excellence. A longtime advocate and volunteer for Croton schools, Allison’s professional insight and personal passion will make a significant impact on the Board of Education. She is focused on fixing broken and outdated policies to ensure stronger academic support and success for students at every level and infusing greater transparency and Democracy for taxpayers. Allison has lived in Croton for 15-years and her two children have attended each school in the district, giving her the unique insights needed to ensure each student’s needs are met from K-12, empowering students with education and putting Croton kids first. Leslie Pollak
Leslie is a results-driven professional with a passion for education and over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, nonprofit board management, philanthropy, and consulting. With half of her career focused on development and institutional advancement at the Horace Mann School and Yeshiva University, Leslie’s skill set enables organizations to achieve their vision and thrive. Her deep knowledge of finance allows her to purposefully examine budgets for nonprofit organizations to maximize value and deliver the best results for their constituents, and is a critical asset for the Board of Education. Leslie is the Development Director for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Westchester, which has provided free programming for PVC and CHHS students for a decade. She is focused on advocating for students and ensuring strong academic standards, enrichment, and meeting their diverse learning needs. Leslie, who has lived in Croton for more than two decades and whose three children have attended each school in the district, believes that better communication between the Board of Education, students, teachers, administrators, and taxpayers will improve our schools’ educational experiences at every age.
